ProBono Opportunity for CUA law students

June 23, 2016

If you are looking for a hands-on learning opportunity for the summer, consider helping out with an impactful pro bono project. Our friends at KIND need a passionate student interested in helping out over the summer months, please see the details below.

Organization: Kids in Need of Defense (KIND)
Project: Assist with an upcoming asylum case.
Dates: Begins Now
Details: Work can be done Remotely.
We have an opportunity for a law student to help out with an asylum case. A pro bono attorney who is a solo practitioner, is filing a UAC asylum application for a young woman who suffered severe sexual abuse and also faced gang threats in El Salvador. The claim is a complex one and developing the claim will likely require in-depth legal and country conditions research.

The attorney plans on filing the asylum application in early August. We anticipate that the interview will be set for sometime in September or October.
If interested: Email the Pro Bono Coordinator, Aoife Delargy (delargy@law.edu) and she will put you in touch with the KIND contact.
Be sure to check the Pro Bono TWEN page for additional summer pro bono opportunities!
Have a great day!
