Whitman-Walker Health seeks an Immigration Attorney

The Immigration Attorney provides advice, counseling, and direct legal representation to clients in LGBTQ/HIV-related immigration law. While focus will be immigration practice, candidates must possess (or have a willingness to develop) basic competency across all practice areas within the scope of Whitman-Walker Health’s Legal Services program, including LGBTQ and HIV discrimination in employment, health care, education, and housing; federal, state, and local public benefits programs; private health and disability insurance; assistance in preparing simple wills and financial and health care powers of attorney; medical confidentiality; debtors’ rights; and name and gender marker changes in legal records for transgender individuals.

We are looking for an individual with at least 2 years of experience and expertise practicing immigration law, specifically LGBTQ/HIV-related immigration law. Written and oral fluency in Spanish is required and the individual must be a member of the District of Columbia Bar or eligible to immediately waive into the District of Columbia Bar. Additional membership in Maryland and/or Virginia is preferred.
