Duties and Responsibilities:

Advises the Director, Deputy Directors, and Senior Counsels on policy matters pertaining to the Department’s commitment to improving indigent defense and enhancing the delivery of legal services to the poor and middle class.

Works with other components of the Department of Justice, other federal agencies, nongovernmental organizations, and state, local, tribal and international stakeholders on actions and issues related to access to justice.

Reviews proposed regulations, policies and legal actions as assigned.

Performs legal research on assigned questions of law or policy and prepares reports and memoranda for review.

Develops, coordinates, and executes special projects as assigned.
