Karamah is hiring a Virginia barred attorney in our Washington D.C. office
to represent domestic violence survivors in family law matters. Karamah also
maintains an additional office in Rockville, MD. Karamah is a nonprofit
organization committed to promoting human rights globally, especially
gender equity, religious freedom and civil rights in the United States. It
pursues its mission through education, legal outreach and advocacy. Karamah’s
family law division provides case management to victims of domestic
violence and sexual assault, as well as direct representation for victims
for cases in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.

Karamah’ Staff Attorney will represent survivors in family law cases,
including civil protective order hearings and other matters – such as child
custody, support, or divorce – arising out of an abusive situation. The
attorney’s duties will also involve coordinating and overseeing Karamah’s case
manager, networking with the domestic violence services community,
including local agencies and shelters, and representing Karamah at speaking
engagement and events.

· Virginia Bar membership in good standing required;
· D.C. bar membership is preferred, but not required;
· Strong communication, and organizational skills;
· Strong legal research and legal document drafting skills;
· Family law, legal aid, firm, or other non-profit experience
· Experience working with domestic violence survivors also strongly
· Familiarity with courts in Northern Virginia is preferred, but
not required;
· 1-2 years prior of litigation experience preferred.
