2015 Equal Justice Works Fellowship application is now open

July 29, 2014

On behalf of the National Advisory Committee for Equal Justice Works, we want to help spread the word about the 2015 Equal Justice Works Fellowship application process, which is now open. You and your students may now access the application through the EJW website at http://www.equaljusticeworks.org/post-grad/equal-justice-works-fellowships/apply.

Applications must be submitted no later than September 17th at 5:00 p.m. EDT.

Equal Justice Works has recently posted some information about their sponsors, who will consider top-quality projects in locations all across the country addressing the full range of civil legal issues faced by low-income and other vulnerable populations. There are certain geographic and subject areas in which they expect particularly strong sponsor interest:

Geographic Areas: Atlanta; Boston; California (Central Valley, Los Angeles, and the San Francisco Bay Area); Chicago; Florida; Minnesota (Twin Cities); New Jersey (especially Newark); Ohio; Texas; and Washington, D.C .

Issue Areas: Veterans’ Rights; Immigration, Human Trafficking; Healthcare and Medical-Legal Partnerships; Children’s Rights and Education; Consumer Protection; and Mortgage Fraud

In addition, there will almost certainly be funding available for fellowships hosted at the following Host Organizations:

* D.C. Access to Justice Foundation organizations (Raise the Bar) (www.dcaccesstojustice.org/files/Raising_the_bar_-_List_of_Eligible_Orgs_2013.doc) — Washington, D.C.
* Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) (www.supportkind.org) — Nationwide
* National Women’s Law Center (employment discrimination projects) (www.nwlc.org/) — Washington, D.C.
* Ohio Legal Assistance Foundation grantees (www.olaf.org/legal-aid-support/legal-aid-programs/ ) — Ohio
* Texas Access to Justice Foundation grantees (www.teajf.org/news/releases/Grants 2013-14.aspx) – Texas
