Suitable for individuals with experience in:
The clinic is open to both legal and non-legal studies students, graduates and professionals but especially those with fundraising and community outreach experience. Dates of the clinic may be flexible, depending on your schedule and availability. You may be eligible for academic credit, fellowships and/or financial support, depending on your university or institution.

Bridges Across Borders South East Asia Community Legal Education Initiative (BABSEA CLE) is currently accepting applicants for its May 2014-August 2014 Legal Studies Externship and Events Coordination Internship Clinics. BABSEA CLE is looking for anyone with experience in fundraising, community development and outreach, business and law. BABSEA CLE offers the opportunity to make a real contribution to assisting others in overcoming the hardships and legal inequity in Southeast Asia whilst being involved in a remarkable experience of living and working in the region. Students, graduates and professionals are all welcome to apply.
What is the programme?

As a BABSEA CLE 2014 Legal Studies Extern or BABSEA CLE Access to Justice Events Coordination Intern you will contribute in four ways:
– Community legal education research and curriculum development
– Community service
– Education and culture
– Self-development through reflection.
What Events Can You Help Organise?
As a BABSEA CLE 2014 Legal Studies Extern or BABSEA CLE Access to Justice Events Coordination Intern you will contribute towards the following events:
-The Pro Bono Conference and Workshop, Trio For Justice and The Access to Justice Public Interest Fair: These are BABSEA CLE’s 3 major events each year which involve a coming together of pro bono advocates from around S-E Asia, a fundraising fun run and an excellent networking opportunity for all Access to Justice organisations in the region respectively.
-Help to set up CLE and Live Client Clinics: A major part of BABSEA CLE’s mission is expanding access to justice in S.E. Asia. You can help to set up CLE and Live Client clinics and workshops in countries like Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia and Malaysia..
-Volunteer Teaching: Teach local and Myanmar children at Wat Sai Moon Buddhist Temple or help educate women from marginalized communities in S-E Asia about their rights under the lawat the Wildflower Home.

Externs contribute $2,800 USD for their costs (shared accommodations included). There are a limited number of partial cost waivers for applicants who demonstrate great financial need and a history of being involved in access to justice/community service projects.
