Public-Spirited Law Firm Seeks Litigation Attorney

The Washington, D.C. law firm of Mehri & Skalet, PLLC (“M&S”) seeks a litigation attorney with at least two years of litigation and trial/arbitration experience to work primarily on a series of cases being pursued in arbitration on behalf of a Union against a federal agency.

M&S represents plaintiffs – primarily employees, consumers, investors, non-profits, and small businesses – in complex litigation under federal and state law. The firm investigates and litigates class action cases challenging a variety of corporate abuses, including civil rights, employment discrimination, employee benefits, fair housing, wage and hour, False Claims Act, and consumer protection violations. The litigation attorney will work primarily on a series of cases in arbitration against a federal agency involving wage and hour disputes. In addition to the wage and hour cases, the attorney may handle discipline or Title VII cases arising out of the firm’s representation of the Union. The attorney will be responsible for handling all aspects of the preparations leading up to arbitration such as witness preparation and Information Requests, the arbitration hearings, and drafting of pleadings. The attorney will work directly with clients and other attorneys in the firm. The position involves a significant amount of travel throughout the United States.


Candidates should have litigation experience and be motivated and possess the ability to work well as part of a team but also be energetic self-starters with initiative. The position requires strong research and writing skills, the ability to communicate effectively with clients, a creative approach to litigation, a commitment to social justice, and an interest in representing employees and unions. Relevant prior work experience includes litigation, trial/arbitration experience, or prior involvement with a labor or public interest organization.
