Senior Legal Aid Attorney – Systemic Reform

In this role, you will identify areas in need of systemic reform on be-half of low income older clients through in-depth interaction and net-working with staff, other legal services providers, social service agencies, community groups and networks of advocates. You will also conduct outreach events in the community to target the client population in need of legal services provided by the Legal Counsel for the Elderly (LCE) and help identify communitywide legal issues. You will develop systemic reform issues and develop and implement plans involving litigation, legislation, rule-making or other policy ad-vocacy to deal with these issues in conjunction with staff and pro bono law firms. 

Requires independent judgment, ability to navigate through complex issues, strong problem solving skills, excellent writing and public speaking skills, good interpersonal skills, and willingness to work with volunteers. Applicant must have a J.D. Degree, be a member in good standing of the DC Bar, or be eligible to waive in, and have 4-6 years of related legal experience.
