Employment Justice Center – 1/2 time attorney position

The Employment Justice Center (EJC) is seeking a half-time Wage Theft Enforcement Attorney for its Legal Services program.  The EJC’s mission is to secure, protect and promote workplace justice in the D.C. metropolitan area.  We have a vibrant legal services program through which we provide advice, counsel and representation to over 1,200 low-wage workers each year.  We do so through our Workers’ Rights Clinics, in-house representation and pro bono referral.  For more information about the EJC, please see our website at www.dcejc.org.

The EJC is seeking a Wage Theft Enforcement Attorney to enforce judgements obtained by the EJC on behalf of low-wage workers.  Responsibilities include managing an active individual caseload, co-counseling with EJC staff and pro bono counsel, and working in conjunction with other EJC programs as needed. Limited evening hours may be required in order to participate in the Workers’ Rights Clinics and to occasionally attend work-related meetings.  

A J.D. is required, as is at least one to three years of litigation experience, which must include the practice of collections law.  A high level of proficiency or fluency in Spanish is required for the position.  Some prior experience representing low income populations is preferred. Membership in the D.C. bar is required.  Membership in the Maryland and/or Virginia bar is a plus.
