Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) is a new non-profit organization dedicated to representing unaccompanied children in the immigration system is looking for law student volunteers to assist with interpretation and client intake.  See the attached document for more information.  If you are interested, please contact Professor Ogilvy (ogilvy@law.cua.edu).

The ElderLaw Clinic (Professor Michael McGonnigal) is representing a 68-year-old grandmother in a child custody case involving her 16-year-old grandson. The grandmother has had the grandson under her care since infancy. The grandmother has temporary legal custody. The mother of the child is fully cooperative. The father of the child has not seen him since he was two weeks old. The mother and the father lost track of each other within a year after the child was born. In the custody proceeding, the Clinic has filed a Motion to Serve by Posting on the father. A great deal of work went into it, but Judge Mitchell-Rankin thinks we need to do more to find the father. before she will allow this form of service. We need somebody who is Internet savvy and who might like playing private detective for a 16-year-old and his 68 year-old grandmother. Contact Professor Sandy Ogilvy if you would like to do some pro bono work for the Elderlaw Clinic on this matter.
