The D.C. Employment Justice Center (EJC) is seeking a Managing Attorney to oversee the legal services program. Responsibilities include managing and training full time staff (including attorney staff), law clerks and an extensive volunteer corps; arranging for and overseeing pro bono referral and representation; litigating employment law cases; conducting and coordinating legal education programming; directing other aspects of the EJC’s legal services program; and working in conjunction with the other EJC programs as needed.

Fellows are placed at legal services organizations across the country to promote public service while developing their own legal and professional skills. Fellows collaborate with community legal aid providers and law schools to develop quality pro bono opportunities for law students and lawyers.

The Harrison Institute for Public Law at Georgetown is accepting application for fellows to supervise students in the clinical program, participate in developing curriculum, and independent research and writing.  Projects the fellow would monitor would likely be related to expanding health care, working on solutions to legal barriers for federal health reform, resolving disparities in health care etc.  Fellows receive an annual stipend, health and dental benefits, full tuition benefits in the LL.M. program and the Masters of Law (Advocacy) upon completion of the two-years.

The Frederick B. Abramson Public Interest Fellowship Award is a fellowship for up to $10,000 awarded to one or more graduating law students, judicial law clerks, or practicing attorneys wishing to work in public interest law. The recipients must exemplify Fred Abramson’s commitment to the use of law to advance the community and public interest by committing to at least one year’s employment with a not-for-profit organization in the District of Columbia.
